Just like Bob Kerry’s gold watch across the Missouri river ,Muppet Mike’s handpicked committee has come back with it’s recommendation that the new ballpark be built Downtown with no word on how we will pay for it. (Does your wallet feel lighter? It will). It came as no surprise that Mayor Landow and Muppet Mike’s chums came back with a plan that affirms what the Muppet wants. Even though they tried to dispel the notion that the end result was preconceived, the release of the non detailed plan was a non event. The plan is so super top secret it’s details wont be released to the people expected to pay for it until it has been taken to the NCAA.
Already a web-site has popped up to start a recall effort of the Mayor. www.Recall-Fahey.com was launched shortly after the announcement.
An off -duty Omaha fire fighter was arrested Saturday morning and almost tasered by LaVista police after he became abusive and resisted arrest.
The 32 year old fire fighter was a passenger in his SUV that was being driven by a 24 year old woman who was arrested for her 3 DUI.
No comment from OFD at this time pending and internal investigation.
A man was the victim of a drive by shooting while standing on his porch near 41st and Corby Monday afternoon. Police say a red car passed by and opened fire on the man. No suspects so far.
Two complete idiots robbed the Burlington Coat Factory at gunpoint around 2 p.m. Monday. What could they possibly have gotten in this heist, change for a twenty and some credit card receipts. Oh and that genuine imitation leather jacket on display by the front door. There would be more money in pay phone outside Qwik Trip. Never said we had the smartest criminals here. Thank god they are lousy shots as well.
Got a kinda sorta update on the melee in Sioux City. So far it appears that no parents were involved and that it was over before it really began. Thank god, the last thing I wanted to watch on YouTube was someone I know being filmed acting like a complete out of control buffoon forcing me to openly make fun of them on here. More details when we get some factual information (The Police report will take a couple of days to get to the office, today was a holiday I’m told).
They say persistence will get you everywhere well in this case it got a 50 year old man charged with Felony Theft of Services. The man was unable to obtain Cox cable services due to a previous unpaid bill. That man allegedly climbed into his apartment complex attic and spliced into his neighbors cable line back in October. Cox technicians discovered the splice and disconnected it. Another outage was reported on February 6th and technicians discovered the splice was back. The man reportedly had received 70 channels of nothing plus HBO.
A nice heads up to Omaha Police who nabbed a couple of copper thieves at the former VIP car-wash on 90th around 3 p.m. yesterday. Forced entry leads to burglary charges, here’s hoping they hang a couple more thefts on them for good measure.
More later………………..

Yep it’s business as usual at City Hall. You guys got it right. This is just like Bob Kerry’s gold watch across the river. What a waste of taxpayer money and now we are going to build a ballpark no bigger than the one we have now to go with it just so this Mayor can have a legacy or something that appears to match what Daub did on the riverfront.
I was at the Bon JOvi concert last night and parking sucked. Now lets take away two lots, close a street off and see if that makes it any better.
Isn’t this the same Mayor that shrunk the size of the Hotel from one that would be able to handle a convention to an over built Motel 6 saying the other hotel would cost to much, now he wants to build a ballpark the same size as we allready have and facing the wrong direction.
Crazy that is all it is.

In Monday’s World Herald, there was an article written by C. David Kotok regarding the downtown CSW getting backing. There is one little blip in this whole article that we all need to pay attention to. Now if reporters cannot print anything unless it is true and accurate and has been checked into, than he prints that “the NCAA cautioned last week that it wanted a community consensus on the stadium and not a legal fight”. If this is true, I don’t understand how Fahey (and his puppets) are pulling all the strings. This is not a community consensus, it is a Fahey consensus. Yes, he has a group put together, but he put together people that are going to back him and not put the “community’s” input out there. So, this being said, the NCAA is NOT getting what it asked for regarding inpu on this new stadium!

Do you think Kewitt will get the contract to build the new palace for payment of Stinsons hard work. Notice Fahey made him answer all the questions yesterday. That way he can claim he didn’t know later.
Why would the Mayor want the people’s input anyway? He knows whats best for us, ask him he will tell you.

We thought the same thing about the Hotel. It’s like a mini Hilton with a great view of the Interstate bridge. Classy.
And now with this plan, instead of showcasing our World Class Zoo were going to frame in on a pedestrian bridge to well frankly nowhere…oh and a lovely view of the casinos….Rick’s Boatyard minus any boats will get a plug.

This whole process is becoming a start to an unfortunate ending. The NCAA will get tired of this fight and move the CWS to OK. or Texas or somewhere else. What are we going to do with this mayor when this happens. We have spent a ton of money on the existing ball park already. Why not buy out the properties surrounding 13th street and put in parking that is suitable for the CWS. Spend money on facilities and seating and let it be. A lot less money.
Ok, maybe this may make sense but the mayor didn’t think of it so it can’t be. big baby!!!

Build it and they will come!!!

They already come… buy the thousands. Crap by the tens of thousands! This isn’t about what the fans want and I don’t believe is is about what the NCAA wants. It is the Mayors Temple. He just wants to show what great things he can do if he has the ability to spend our money. Maybe just maybe someone important in town wants the Rosenblatt land for zoo expansion… hmmm. It sounds like a lot of burden for the taxpayer for zoo development.

Rumor has it: A new Muskrat exhibit is pushing this whole Zoo Expansion wet dream.
