03.10.08 Monday with Bugs and Mongo
Forgive us for being sluggish, combine Daylight Savings with 3 Overtimes for UNO to move on in the Playoffs and we are a little scrambled this morning.
In the longest game in UNO Hockey’s 11 years the Mav’s moved on, winning 2-1 over Alaska after J.P.Platisha netted the winner with 4:22 gone in the 3rd OT. The Mav’s now go to Ann Arbor to face Michigan.
The saddest thing about this game was the crowd. The Qwest looked abandon. It was pick your seat night. I’ve seem more fans at a drop in game at Benson. Ok maybe not that bad but it did look almost as bad as a Royals game. Has the bandwagon finally left and a bunch of so called hockey fans decided to catch the next one?
Hey the football player to screw up in Lincoln under Pelini has shown his face. Police arrested Offensive Lineman Andy Christensen on first degree sexual assault charges after a 23 year old woman said he approached her from behind, reached under her clothes and sexually assaulted her. He was also charges with resisting arrest, and failure to comply.
Pelini suspended him indefinitely pending the investigation. Let’s see how fast the new sheriff gets things under control down there.
The second town hall meeting on the new stadium was held at North High. Jack Diesing Jr hinted that if we don’t build it the NCAA would go elsewhere even though they have never publicly said that. City Councilman Jim Vokal would like to actually hear the NCAA’s voice on the matter saying they should publicly state that we need to build a new stadium to secure the College World Series.
Also it was said there would be no facilities for RV’s at the new stadium. Diesing stated the 80% of the RV’s belonged to local residents anyway and it was the NCAA’s desire to eliminate the tailgating around the park.
Here is a question that people should start asking, who really owns all that stuff going up around the new ballpark location. Like the hush hush group that invested in the Boatyard, people should ask who’s backing a few bars around the Qwest. The next public forum is tonight at Westside High School.
A Council Bluffs Police Officer answering a call of a suspicious person wandering around the Super Saver on Broadway ended up shooting the man after a short chase in which the man pointed a shotgun at the officer. The officer has been put on paid leave pending an investigation. No details on the mans condition.
And if you didn’t catch it, watch the news for this guys family members to be interviewed. It was like a casting call for Springer.
A group of Omaha Vets rallied around the defaced monument at Heartland of America Park yesterday. The American Legion members called for better lighting and increased security in the area. They also said they put their lives on the line for freedom and now that freedom is being abused. We’re in favor of posting guards at the memorials armed with paintball guns and a secured position.
That’s it for now, more later………………

No joke about the sparse crowd. That was embarrasing. They announced it at 3200. If we keep drawing like that were going to end up playing at Hitchcock. Great game though, almost like getting 2 for the price of one now it’s on to eliminate little blue.

The guy in CB had an outstanding warant and his kids claimed he took the shotgun from another family member before they could do something stupid with it, like what point it at a State Trooper. Sounds like they will looking for another village idiot over there.

The police did her dad wrong- Shooting him like that. Of course he ran, he had a felony warrant out for him and he was carrying a shotgun. How dare they shoot him! The only issue here is paying the medical bill and not for a box.

Dont forget pointed it at them.
And the daughter looked like she had just left her class at MIT on Rocket Science didn’t she ?
I think I could hear dueling banjo’s playing in the backround while she was being interviewed.

So what’s the condition of the CB guy? Did he die?
Comment by asdf — March 10, 2008 @ 11:40 am
* What I meant is, is there an update on the condition?

Critical but stable is all we keep hearing. Translation, he has a hole in him but he is going to live and stand trial.

What No input from Captain Obnoxious and his cohorts today? Ever since the Banta…wait forgot can’t say it out loud….since the meltdown of that one hockey team we havent heard a peep from the other mouthpieces either. Funny how a dose of humility does that to a person.

Captain Obnoxious here… Wow where have you been? Haven’t heard a peep… from me? WTF? I said my piece on the Banta…. (yeah let’s not), then I changed my perspective. I even sent a letter of apology to the other org. I put it all on the Q&A pages for all to see. I am willing to admit when I am wrong. Still got a problem? BTW, I dropped comments all over the last couple of days. I just put the Speedo and cape away yesterday.

It’s ok Cappy, even superheros need a day off here and there.
Put it away? Your not pulling a Favre and calling it a career are you?

No.. what fun would that be? I do think that it’s funny. I might have made more comments on Thursday and Friday than I have ever made in a two day period and I get accused of not making comments since the meltdown. I guess when you are a psudo public figure, people will take pot shots at you. I can take it! I have thick, hairy skin!

YUCK TMI!!!!!!!
Some people only read what they want to read Cap. We love it when we hear people bitching about us saying we are a Hockey Blog and thats all we are about here. Someone actualy said to Patches over the weekend that we should be removed from the web for putting up a blog geared at nothing more than ripping on refs. How do you keep a straight face when someone says that but we could tell that they never went any further than that one page. There are a few others that do that as well and dont have any idea how much content there is on other subjects.
It’s like going to the library and hanging out at the magazine rack. Look around a bit. Oh well.

Actually, you could get a couple of those guys and have a “Ask the Ref” or “Ask the REALLY experienced Ref” depending on who is doing the answers. You know get some people asking questions and having some guys give answers to help educate us all.
BTW… Guy in CB… CFM!

“It’s like going to the library and hanging out at the magazine rack.”
You know, they don’t even get that far anymore. They only come here to update their myspaces.
