Thanks Mr. Mayor for trying to make law abiding citizens criminals.

By the way, I heard that the city is trying to figure out what to do with the Crossroads Mall. It is dying on the vine and many feel that with a location at 72nd and Dodge, something of value should be at that intersection.... how about a baseball stadium?

Here's my take on the Report a Gun Law.

Law-abiding ghunnies (like, say, me) ARE going to report it stolen. Heck, I can't get my insurance to pay for it unless I report it missing.

The criminals, who this bill is supposed to stop, won't report anything. Who really expects Gangbanger Alpha to call the cops to report his gat be gone.

All this does is add another expense (hotline has to be set up and staffed) and give Muppet Mike's minions another empty charge to slap on someone they don't like.

Imagine this scenario: Police visit a law abiding gent from the 30/Lake areas to tell him the gun used in a recent slaying turns out to be his. He says, "Impossible, mine's locked up in the closet. Here, let me show you.... Crap, where's the lockbox?"

At this point, how likely are police going to believe this guy didn't know? Or are they, seeing as he's mid-20s, black, and living in North O, going to assume he gave the gun to a thug and is merely lying?

It's a bad law with nothing positive to gain.
