Parents & Hopeful Players-

I want to apologize for the delay in getting the roster posted but hope to have it up after this weekend.

Coach Ogie, as part of his probation, has not been allowed to coach youth sports, so we had to scramble last minute to find another coach for the team, which set us back. I am happy to announce that we do have a new coach, Coach Judas, who will be coaching the team.

Next we had a delay with team selection. To be fair, and to prevent any of the normal rumors about teams being picked by friends, etc I asked several local ball players watch the tryouts and list their picks for the coach. But there was some confusion when the pieces of paper with the names of the kids pre-selected by the coach got wet with rain when he passed them to the helpers. The helpers were not able to read them. The team was then somehow picked on merit alone and the coach refused to accept the roster. After much soul searching, I think the coach has accepted that this result was meant to be and I hope to have a roster to you by the weekend.

Additionally, I would like to announce to all the moms, step moms, mistresses, sisters, girlfriends, and aunts out there that Cassie will be back to lead our Cheer Squad and will be holding open tryouts at the first practice (TBD). The coach does not like the name “Pole Cats” as he feels it is improper and therefore the team will now be called the Bible Beats. This will be a new avenue for Cassie and we are looking forward to her choreography on some of the selected routines, like “Go Tell it on the Pitchers Mound”, or whatever that song is.

Again, I apologize for the delay but will have a roster up as soon as possible. Looking forward to a fresh start and a great season!

So our team has something to keep them occupied over the summer and off the street we have got together with some people  and put together a travel baseball program.

Tryout’s are this Saturday at 6:34 a.m. at Columbus Park (it’s the only field the city would let us use and only if we help clean up the graffiti).
