A tip from Council Bluff about a woman nabbed shoplifting over $100 in cat food led athorities to a house near 18th and Spaulding where over 117 cats were removed. This is the 3rd time Hanne Kaea has been ticketed for having to many animals in her home. Humane Society Officials said conditions were not as bad as they could have been in the 800 square foot home however city officials did condemn the structure as unsafe to live in. Now the Humane Society faces the burden of what to do with the animals some of which suffer from a respiratory illness.

Omaha has a new Police and Fire Chief.

Eric Buske takes the permanent role as Police Chief.  Buske is a 24 year veteran of the force and vows to continue to work on the community policing effort to reduce violence.

42 year old Mike Mc Donnell assumes the permanent role of Fire Chief. The former Union President who helped Muppet Mike get elected back in 2001, is an 18 year veteran of the force and the youngest Fire Chief in the City’s history.

With high gas prices and so called Global Warming we have been encouraged to car pool or take mas transit. Well the fine folks that manage the Village Point Mall don’t seem to want to co-operate as people using the park and ride express bus were told they couldn’t park there. MAT officials took some of the blame saying they hadn’t secured a lot for parking yet however the folks at Village Point should consider this, did you ever think that the people using that bus might also shop there often because they live out there. If you didn’t want them to park there then why did you allow the bus stop to be placed there?

A somewhat solution was arrived at. Riders will be allowed to park in the old Wild Oats lot, 75 yards away from the bus stop so they can dodge being run over by some snob in an Escalade not wanting to be slowed down by the icky bus riders. (Wait I think that was the manager)

An overnight shooting sent three women to the hospital. The shooting occurred near 39thand Grand, the same location as a shooting a month ago. One woman was hit in the hand, the other in the back and a third was being treated for unknown reasons. Here’s a hint, don’t gather on that corner anymore.

And the Millard teacher accusedof having sex with a 14 year old student 6 years ago turned herself in and posted bond. Stephanie Draper was accused of having a relationshipwith an unnamed student who is now 21.

Interesting twist to this story is how the former student attempted to blackmail the teacher for $5000 and now his Attorney is trying to shake down the Millard School District for a cool million. (Don’t pay it). What strikes me as funny, being male and all and actually remembering what it was like to be 14, there is no way in hell this guy kept his mouth shut for 6 years. A 14 year old is not embarrassed for banging the teacher, he is looking for the cool in school merit badge at that age. He is bragging to every buddy on the bus he has that he humped the hottie.  Now maybe he did brag and nobody believed him. If it can be proved that the two went bump in the night then she needs to face the music, however Sarpy County and Washington County Authorities need to also address the issue of the attempted shakedown as well. You can’t go after one without the other. Extortion is a crime and this case didn’t have 6 years to fester.

This has all the apperances of some dirtbadand his family looking for a big payday because the lottery tickets don’t seem to be paying off. This one might be hard to prove for the prosecution anyway. I’m guessing the victim, who should be named, doesn’t have the best track record withthe truth in life and now needs someone to blame for the lack of upbringing in his home.

Now if it can be proved beyond a doubt then Stephanie and Kelsey Peterson can compare notes on their former 14 year old love interests while sitting out the next 5 years.

InfoGroup Inc Chairman and CEO Vin Gupta had his wings trimmed a little. He has been removed as Chairman and ordered to pay back nearly 9 million dollars in what the Committee called excessive spending. The money was spent on such items as a Yacht, which must be sold, houses, planes and a Memorial Stadium Sky Box. Gupta’s Executive powers have also been trimmed though he will remain as CEO of the Company. Chief Financial Officer Stormy “I got my ass kicked in that election” Dean will also be replaced though he will remain with the company in another role.

Gupta, who still owns 40 percent of the stock in the company is prohibited from buying any more shares at this time. An oversight group will review all expenses and they must be approved by the board.

See what happens Vin. You work your ass off building a company out of your garage, get it to the top of the heap where you can enjoy the fruits of your labor and pow, piss off some shareholders and the party’s over. I know the feeling. The other day I just finishes a batch of Raspberry Filled that looked premo, thought I’d have one and bamm the counter girl rang it up on the cash register and mumbled something about me not fucking with her profit sharing. It sucks to be on top.

A man who just finished donating Plasma was approached by two men offering him 10 bucks to give them a ride to Dundee. Around 50th and Cumming one of them pulled a gun and jacked the mans car. The car was described as a green 1977 IMPALA 4 door. I think they did the guy a favor. 77 Impala? What did that get 8 mpg in town. You’d have to give plasma 3 days a week just to get around the block.

Two separate Pit Bull bites, I won’t call them attacks due to the extent of the injuries, had the Humane Society take two dogs into custody.

The first happened near 28th and Himbaugh when a 3 year old was bit around the face. A 19 year old was cited for no registration or vaccination. You know at that point the 19 year old owner showed he couldn’t afford or wasn’t responsible for the animal and should never get it back. Why are all these Pit Bulls without shots? The Pit Bull, Choice dog of Complete Fucking Morons Everywhere.

A 2 year old was bitten near 28th ave and Ida after some kid let another Pit Bull out of a fenced back yard. That dog was taken in for 10 day observation and the child didn’t need medical attention. Wonder how long before the kid who opened the fence gets his ass kicked?

And then my favorite story. A former Millard Middle School teacher has had an arrest warrant issued for her after a former student came forward about an alleged sexual relationship that happened 6 years ago. The warrant issued for 35 year old Stephanie Draper (she was 29 at the time of the alleged roll in the sack) charges her with first degree sexual assault of a minor.

Here is the interesting twist to the story. The former student admits to trying to extort $5000 in hush money from the teacher to keep quiet. He said she claimed to not have the money but offered a diamond ring she thought was worth that much.

He said he decided to come forward because he blames Draper for him using drugs and alcohol and he was never able to get over it and move on. Hey buddy the term might be obsessed. And I’d guess you were pissed you didn’t get the 5 grand. Not to condone a 29 year old teacher bedding a 14 year old student but I have a hard time believing his first tumble between the sheets made him the man he is today. If that’s the case then look out Susie Joe Robinski. I’m coming after you for millions for making men the overnight Doughnut Chef of Douglas County.

That fact he tried to extort money from her should toss this one in the toilet. She has resigned from the Millard Schools and now lives in WashingtonCounty. Unless they find another so called victim, either drop it or charge him with attempted extortion as well. Bet he loves Van Halen.

Were surrounded by idiots and freaks I tell ya.

Have a great day.

Let’s see whats worth writing about this morning, eh not much

Judge Mark Ashford sentenced former Norris Middle School teacher Collin Holcomb to 4-5 years for sexual assault of a child. Holcomb was busted in a relationship with a former student that he began making the moves on 3 years ago. The two had meetings at Chuchich Park near 50th and Grover. Some neighbors became suspicious and called police. Holcomb claimed at the time that they were in love and waiting for her to reach legal age so they could have a relationship, however it was later discovered that Collin had been coping a feel here and there.

In other perverted news and one of the funniest mascara smeared mug shots I have seen in a while, a 24 year old Omaha woman was arrested for first degree sexual assault of a child. Lis Glenn, who was a close friend of the boys family, was arrested Friday for having sex with a 13 year old boy.

Maybe Lis and Colling can get paired up on Eharmony, they have so much in common.

Two men broke into a home near 42nd and Bedford and demanded money. Their weapon, a Pitbull. The man declined to give them any money and he was assaulted by one of the men before they left. To bad the dog didn’t turn on them in an act of poetic justice.

And last nights interview with Walter Delong was a peach. Ole Walt claims police were out of line when they shot him after he walked away from work release, ran from police, dodged a tazer shot and jacked a get away car.

He claims police were just pissed he made them chase him. No Shit Dumbass.

Delong said his day went bad when he got threats from his ex wife. He couldn’t complain because he received them on a cell phone that had been smuggled into the corrections center. Bet it got shitty reception. Delong then walked away from work release but was later spotted in the 96th and Q area. An Officer attempted to get off a tazer shot after several commands for him to stop, however she missed and Delong laughed at her.

He then Car jacked a Honda that a man was getting into and took off. Police caught up with him a short time later and when he wouldn’t give up the fight they shot him. (APPLAUSE)

Now Wally Dumbshit wants to bitch about it. First Waldo, they had no idea if you were armed  or not. If you didn’t want to be shot you should have stopped running. It wasn’t a game of hide and seek you moron. Maybe next time the Tazer gets you and then all you will have to bitch about is how they kept zapping your ass over and over in the parking lot for making them have to chase you.

And if you missed Flounders little post in yesterdays comment section you will be glad to hear that the Gretna Softball and Baseball Organization has banned Mr Jump the Fence and body slam the Ump for 2 years and suspended the Coaches for a year. In their letter they also blamed the Umpires Association for not heading previous complaints and letting the situation get out of hand. Denny Jones from the Metro Umpires Association said he Umpire handled the game fine and has even attended sensitivity training (WTF Now were trying to puss out the Umpires as well, Flounder you might want to take your little Conflict Coaching Clinic public cuz your on to something.)(If that happens I’m setting up a stand outside the door selling clip on pony tails and man clogs).

Here’s a note to the fine folk in Gretna Baseball, First Denny doesn’t listen to complaints and if you’ve been around baseball long enough you would know that, so stop getting your panties in a twist. all you’ll get out of it is an arrest record and high blood pressure. You see these guys enough to know who is the nugget job out there and you should be able to coach around shitty calls and lazy work.

So he yelled at the kid, was that the first time someone yelled at him and scared his sensitive ego. Life’s rough and not fair so now is a good time to learn to play through it.

Now if you really want to get under a bad Ump skin without the threat of violence then start your own blog and title a page oh say  I’m Blind I’m a Grump I wanna be Denny Jones or an Ump, and let people comment all season about calls. We know first hand there are a couple of guys still pacing over the Ref page here. But we also know a couple who stepped their game up out of fear of being pointed out so everyone wins without the arrest blotter having to come into play. (I’m going to have to get a bigger stick to keep stirring up the shit aren’t I)

So have a nice couple of years off and maybe you and the Ump will become friends in the sensitivity training classes. Just remember Flounder has a no choke hold policy in the group hug session.

Senator Chuck Hagel posturing for a spot on the fall ticket is traveling with Senator Obama in Afghanistan. Many speculate Hagel could be Obama’s running mate however it appears more like he is kissing ass for a cabinet position, likely Secretary of Defense. After listening to his positions on things we think he got his defensive scheme from the Bill Callahan administration. Obama would be better suited looking at Hagel’s Chief of Staff. She’s mean as a snake and would crack her whip at the members of either party.

Hell the way Chuck walks the fence were surprised he didn’t make the Olympic Gymnastics team on the balance beam. “Here comes the political flip-flop move….and he sticks it with perfection”.

An Omaha pizza delivery man was shot near 48th and Boyd after making a delivery. He said a man approached his car and demanded money then shot him. Apparently the 19 dollars and change wasn’t enough for the robber. This would be the same type of guy who would stick up a Cum and Go hoping to strike it rich.

The driver was able to get his car to 55th and Ames where he flagged down a Police Officer who got him medical assistance.

A fight Sunday afternoon near 38th and Dodge sent one woman to the hospital after her super human capabilities failed and the car she was attempting to prevent from leaving ran her over. Police say on ongoing dispute between the two groups escalated into a window being broken at the 38th and Dodge address. When they trying to keep the vehicle from leaving the driver kept going. The woman was hospitalized with non life threatening injuries. “Stop this car or I’ll tear off your muffler on your way over the top of me”.

A Bellevue woman who failed to read the warning labels or directions on the containers was overcome by a chlorine plume in her own kitchen. Fire Fighters and Haz-Mat were called out to the address near 21st and Morrie after the woman mixed two pool cleaning chemicals together in the kitchen.

Lets see, chemical mixture, closed confined space…yep theres’ a smart move.

Firefighters ventilated the house and the woman was taken for medical treatment.

So this won’t happen to any of our readers we offer this public service of reading the first line of the directions on the pool chemical container.

“Never Mix Chemicals from Different Containers Together.”

Line 2 “Add Chemicals to water slowly to mix, NEVER ADD WATER DIRECTLY TO CHEMICALS”

Line 3 ” Always mix chemicals in a WELL VENTILATED AREA”.

Glad to be of help.

Ok that’s all the news fit to make fun of today. From the sounds of things you will be stuck with my sarcastic take on area events till after the COX Classic is over.

Dodging Stray Bullets and Dancing for the Home Folk

Filed under: Uncategorized — eyeonomaha @ 7:24 am

Yesterday the news was plastered with the parent of one of the previous days shooting victims. She appeared at a rally to help curb the violence and I applaude her for that. What got me thinking during her tear filled appeal to put the guns down was her statement about where her daughter was at the time and the fact that her 14 year old other daughter was with her and witnessed it.

Apparently the girl was caught in the crossfire at a party and another innocent victim struck down because some thug was working on his form and appearance and not his aim.

My question is what were these two young lady’s doing at a party after midnight on a weeknight ? And here lies part of the problem. It doesn’t matter what part of town your come from, for some reason we are letting our teens call the shots and make the rules. And it just isn’t here in Omaha.

Take the trial underway over in Iowa because some 17 year Sheriff’s niece managed to dance naked in a “Theater for the Performing Arts” in Hamburg Iowa. Is the owner at fault for her being in there? You bet but so are her parents for letting her roam the County at all hours and her Uncle for that matter. Everyone knows everyone in a community that small, someone knew who she was when she was shaking her naked ass across the stage. The other question the Sheriff and his Sister should be asking, who gave your little teen angel the booze she was ingesting all night prior to the performance ? She admitted in court she had been out drinking all night with friends. Whoever was providing the drinks is just as responsible as well as mom and dad for not putting out an APB through the Uncle when there little darling wasn’t home at the pre designated time quadrant (call the movie on this one The Boneheads).

We are all at fault for not putting our foot down and reining in our children and setting up rules that they will adhere to. Sure some will slip through or wont possibly have the supervision available to keep them in check, it’s been like that forever. However some of the innocent ones might be kept from harms way if we just took a stand in the right direction.

As for Tiny Dancer, I’m doubting that was her last performance in front of the home crowd. From all accounts she was a natural.

Looks like the bad aim gang is back. Omaha Police are investigating 3 shootings that happened minutes apart.

The Shootings occurred in the No-K Coral at 33rd and Webster where a man was shot in the foot, hey maybe it was that guy who used to play Webster on tv with such a low shot and all, 25th and Spaulding and 44th and Redman. Both the victims there were shot in the abdomen but all are expected to survive. Police have no suspects because as usual, witnesses didn’t see anything.

Another shooting happened out West near 74th and Cedar when 4 shot rang out in an apartment complex playground. Police are looking for 4 suspects in that case. No body was hit however police did find the intended victim hiding under the slippy slide.

Ever wonder why your mail is slow. Well this might be part of the problem. The U.S. Postal Inspector has arrested 3 men for smoking marijuana on the job at the downtown post office. Their ages are, 49,47 and 46. Woooooo Dazed and Confused lives on. Police found small amounts of the drug in their cars. Postal Inspectors won’t comment however our sources tell us that they became suspicious when the 3 used the word “Dude” way to much and kept bitching constantly about there not being a White Castle in town.

A story on WOWT last night showed a neighborhood where the trash pickup had been missed for 3 weeks. Ok so the 6 on your side crew gets involved and starts asking the “Tough” questions before the “I”team could get there or Action News could make it sound like an Ebola outbreak was about to happen. And then one of the dumbest comments ever uttered by a City Worker came over the air. In an effort to explain why it took the City and Deffenbaugh 3 weeks to correct the problem, Marty Grate in the City Public Works Department said something to the tune of “Because of higher gas prices fewer collectors are showing up and that means fewer trucks are on the road.”

Did you come up with that one yourself Marty or did someone in management over a Deffenbaugh help you with that? Lets see, I need money for gas I should stay home, yep that’ll fix the problem. Maybe it should be “Due to higher gas prices our collector has fewer trucks on the road and is periodically skipping certain areas here in there in an effort to cut down on trips to Elk City.” “Sorry if we missed the same area 3 weeks in a row”.

Marty, your job is to look into why the taxpayers are not getting the service we are paying for, not make excuses for the contractor.

Muppett Mike’s  PitbullPanel got together for 90 minutes. Nothing was decided however 24 fresh doughnuts met an untimely death. The panel is weighing several options including a partial bar, anyone with fewer than 5 of their own teeth cannot own a pit bull, to a full ban to some kind of regulated ownership. The group will be getting together again, hopefully before the next kid gets a partial scalp removal.

That’s it for me on this fine Thursday morning.

Charges Dropped Against Two Carjacking Thugs

Filed under: Uncategorized — eyeonomaha @ 8:46 pm

And we wonder why crime runs wild.

You remember the 4 girl thugs who carjacked the young mother last October and left her young baby by the side of the road. Well a District Court Judge has dismissed the charges against two of them because the victim could not be found. Now excuse me for speaking out of turn here but what the fuck. I’m am calling bullshit on not being able to find Amber Blakeman and I am sure one of the local media has a bead on her right now. I get the feeling that she was intimidated into not testifying. Just by the actions of these two so called girls and their family you can tell they plan to lead a long life of lawlessness. Remember one was using the lead paint defense. She could have used the stupid mom defense as well.

15 year old Mary Likely and 14 year old Desiree Levering were being charged as Adults. While awaiting trial they assaulted a corrections officer and have both pled guilty to the charges. Knowing the Judges around here they will get a tap on the wrist while a nun gets to do hard time. I don’t believe Sister Markey tossed a baby to the side of the road. But Likely and Levering have such a great support group at home that I’m sure they will make the best of their time off for bad behavior. I’n fact I am sure super mom will loose track of Mary again and she will be roaming the hood causing mayhem in no time.

Someone needs to find the victim and see if she was intimidated or if she was just scared that there would be retaliation. And it’s time for the Community Leaders to put their foot down and take a tougher stance on this kind of behavior.

And if Law Enforcement wants and idea on how to put a dent in the gang and drug activity they should review the Elliot Ness game plan. When some guy is walking around wearing 15k in gold and driving a 50k SUV but reports he is unemployed it’s time for the IRS to look into a few things. Remember they got Capone for income tax evasion. Maybe it’s time to see where some of these people are coming up with the cash to pay for all the goodies and it might be a little easier to press charges. It’s hard to intimidate the IRS into not testifying in Court, not that I have tried.

These two thugetts should get more than a pardon for kicking the Correction Officers ass. In fact a sentence of long hot days walking the roadside picking up trash for a couple of years might do them some good however some bleeding heart would call that cruel and unusual even though they both look like the exercise would do them some good. Maybe we will get lucky and there a some lead paint chips in the jail they can chew on.

All the emails in my mailbox caused me to miss the one from Bugs asking me to fill in for a couple of days, so sorry for only posting the rant and missing the update. Nothing was really missed anyway.

In the Stupid Idiots of Summer category:

A 15 year old girl suffered a serious head injury at Louisville State Lakes Recreation Area when she fell out of the back of the truck she was riding in. The truck was being driven by a 39 year old Omaha woman with a suspended license. Wonder if it was for not being capable of driving and disobeying laws like the one against people riding in the back of a truck.

The girl is in serious condition while the driver was arrested for driving under suspension and willfull reckless driving.

And people think the Hockey crowd is crazy, Saturday at the Ashland vs Gretna 12 year old boys baseball game held at Sandlot Ridge an Umpire raised his voice over the ball strike count and was greeted by head case parent of the year Jeffery Johnson who shoved the Ump to the ground then left before the cops arrived. Douglas County Sheriffs did catch up with him and cited him for assault. Needless to say Jeffy wont be making any future games the rest of the season.

A LaVista homeowners Association Board sent out letters this week telling anyone that had installed a flagpole in their yard to remove it immediately. Apparently flying the American Flag in the Southwinds Development negatively effects property values. The subdivision has covenants that require permission for any improvements to the property and by all means we want to make sure nobody is adversely effected and traumatized by the American Flag. Maybe someone can suggest to the Board Members a good disposal location for the removed flag poles.

Omaha Police are getting some unwanted help patrolling the streets. Apparently so moron in a 2005 Tan Lincoln Town Car is pulling people over pretending to be a cop. The man is described as Stocky (fat) in his mid 30’s, clean shaven around 6′2″ tall. From the report filed he gets a little pissy when you don’t cooperate with him. Police say if you are pulled over by an unmarked cruiser and you are not sure about the officer (Some fat douche bag in street clothes should be a dead giveaway) then ask for a marked cruiser and uniformed officer but keep your doors locked and window up. Another clue this guy isn’t legit would be that he is attempting to write in his ticket book with a crayon.

And with lousy articles like that I could be in line for the Chief Writers job over at Cappers Weekly.

Fresh Doughnut’s are in the case and it’s time for me to head home. Have a great day.

Checking Clinic with Christ

Filed under: Mongo Torrey, O.M.A.H.A. Hockey, Uncategorized — eyeonomaha @ 6:58 am

This morning my mailbox was filled with letters on this subject.

Who exactly gave the O.M.A.H.A. email list to the Righteous Right Wings and their Checking Clinic Crusade? Is there no policy protecting our family’s information on file or are they selling the list to the highest bidder?  If they are handing out a freebie then pass that list on to my Church of Shut the Fuck Up the Game is On ,so Pastor Rocko and I can get out the weekly bulletin during football season. (Rocko is giving 2000-1 odds we never see the list).

I know some of you think I’m just picking on these people because I am “non-spiritual”. Nothing could be further from the truth. I get spiritually enlightened on a regular basis thanks to the fine folks at Dewar’s. What I have an issue with is the fact that the youth hockey organization we belong to is not a religious organization and should not be subjecting it’s members to spam from a group that believes they can save all of us from whatever it is we need saving from. This is a recruiting program disguised as a hockey camp. They forget that some of us may not be Christian. Ok, they didn’t forget, they don’t care.

They issue here is that someone either shared or stole the email list in order to SPAM the membership of the two youth hockey organizations in town and some people, judging from the barrage of emails I got since this thing hit the mailbox, are really sick and tired and pissed off that this continues to happen. The email list should not be allowed to be used to forward the agenda of a fringe group of people who want to push their “Fulfillment and Enrichment” on the rest of us.

A honestly I really don’t think God gives a shit if your kid can check someone through the glass come the start of the season. In fact I am pretty sure he hangs back in the shadows during tryout’s and watches how certain members of this group behave. Hope he is taking notes.

Maybe the group of people in charge of the organization will step up and ask for the list back or at least locate the source of the information and discipline them for sharing without permission or if permission was granted then change the policy from here on in an effort to not offend people who may come from a different avenue of worship. If not then maybe Rocko on I will start putting a line out for the PeeWee house league and start passing out Gold Sheets at the rink.

Sloooooooooooow news day

Defense Attorneys for Kyle Borman want statements he blurted out to police officers removed from evidence because he may not have been read his rights yet.

Bormann is accused of shooting Brittnay Williams while sitting in her car at the KFC drive through on North 30th. Borman was arrested after he drove his car through crime scene tape and attempted to run from police.

The statements he made to officers were that he was mad about the officiating of the NFL game that day and blamed the black referee’s for it. Bormann had been drinking heavily that day as well.  Officers said the in car camera was blinking wile Bormann blurted out his statements but Detectives were unable to retrieve the video.

Lets hope we didn’t screw this one up so bad that this killer gets off on some slip up.

An 18 year old girl described how her former boyfriend shot her mom back in May of 2007. Allison McCaskill told the court that her boyfriend of 3 years, 23 year old ClentonBoo Saunders, refused to leave the house she shared with her mother at 18th and Miami. Her mother she said, had been partying, drinking beer and smoking dope that evening when Saunders walked in the house without knocking and refused to leave when Ms. Mc Caskill asked him to while wielding a fireplace poker. Saunders walked out to his van then returned to continue the argument. He then reached over Allison who was attempting to get him to leave and fired his gun at her Mother who later died from her injuries.

Lets see  she was 15 and he was 20 when they started dating and nobody saw this trouble coming for 3 years, even with a nickname like Boo.

Now Boo claims shooting her was in self defense because she was armed with a fireplace poker and kept striking the doorway with it in an attempt to get him to leave. Boo you could have just got in the van and left but you armed up and returned which could have made it self defense on her part if she would have cracked your skull with the poker. See ya in 25 Boo.

And for the hockey crowd, a new store has opened for equipment. Sticks and Kicks is open for business at 2101 North 120th next to Qdoba, and no we have no connection to them but know there is a void in town for a place to buy gear. They are open M-F from 9-8, Sat from 9-6 and Sunday from 12-5.

More later………….

I hope everyone had a safe holiday weekend and is returning to work with the same number of fingers and toes as last week.

I realized, while watching what appeared to be a distant member of the Grucci family put on a spectacular fireworks display  just across the street from my house, that a ban on Pitbull ownership is pointless. I can see how well the fireworks ban is doing. I don’t understand why the smoking ban has any teeth. Law enforcement has it priorities in order. Light up the evening sky with enough gunpowder to level a small building….call gets pushed to the back of the list…..light up a camel in a bar and Adam 12 is racing to the scene after John Q Public calls it in from the pay phone in the can.

Speaking of Idiots and fireworks….Friday a 16 year old was seriously injured out at Hanson Lake when a stray firecracker fell into a box of really big stuff that was being stored under a boat. The boat burnt up after Uncle Dave’s stash of illegal fireworks ignited . The girl was taken to UNMC with serious burns to her legs. Police arrested a 38 year old man and charged him with possession of illegal explosives.

The 8 day Olympic Swim Trials are drawing rave reviews from everyone, so much in fact that many are wanting to return here in 2012 even though the Sports Commission hasn’t put a bid in for the event yet. One participant even was quoted as saying she couldn’t believe how much there was to do here and how much fun they were having in our city ( Are you listening little bored Millard kids?) and how they would look forward to returning. We will wait to hear from Roger Dixon as to the overall success of the meet.

Well Commissioner Duda was right. When the Douglas County Board voted to grant a refund on Tax Commissioner Doug Ewalds property it would get the ball rolling for others to try the same.

Ewald was granted a $1505 refund for overpayment of 2005 taxes on his home due to the house being appraised at an incorrect size. Makes sense. Now other homeowners are starting to look at how their home are evaluated and question if they have been overpaying. One homeowner is asking for 10 years back even though State law says you only get 3 years to figure out if the County has been picking your pocket. So get out your tape measures folks and jump in line and if you get a little something back make sure you thank Doug the next time you see him.

A young man was killed early Sunday when the car he was driving flipped and crashed near 30th and Fillmore. Police say the boy had just left a party after getting into an argument and was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control. He was not wearing a seat belt so he was partially thrown from the car. For all you Fast and Furious wannabee’s out there, that means the car landed on him while he was coming out of it. So use this as a warning, slow down and buckle up.

And what would a holiday be without a little drive by action in the No-K. We didn’t have to even wait for night fall as Police are looking for clues on a Silver or Grey SUV that slowed down to get a few rounds off on two men walking near 33rd and Ames yesterday afternoon. Both have non life threatening injuries.

Maybe we should ban SUV’s. They seem to be involved in alot of crime anymore. Perhaps a 10 day waiting period….oh well.

Have a great day back at work, Mongo thanks for the doughnuts this morning, thumbs up on the new recipe.

Omaha Police shot a Pit bull who first broke loose from a nylon rope and bit a man mowing his yard near 28th and Sprague then later charged at a police officer who put a couple rounds in him. The dogs 18 year old owner was cited for harboring a dangerous animal, no tags, no shots.

Why is it the owners of the unpredictable animals never have the proper things taken care of? You know you have the answer.

Kelsey Peterson plead guiltyin Federal Court and was sentenced to at least 70 months but no longer than sever years and 3 months for her relationship with a former student and illegal immigrant Fernando Rodriguez.  Now the Attorney for Fernando is confident the government will provide the certification to grant the entire family a visa that will allow them to stay in the U.S..

Ok call us heartless but this kid and his family’s story has more holes in it than a NO-K SUV in a 30th and Ames parking lot on Saturday night. Mom acts like she didn’t know about the relationship nor where the couple was headed however someone in the family gave them the address of his relatives to “visit”. He claims he though she was weird but that didn’t stop him from bumping uglies several times a week and then resuming the relationship when he moved back to town after a brief stint in custody.

Don’t get us wrong, the relationship was inappropriate however we feel that this kids family is manipulating the situation to get their bus ticket punched.

Surprise Surprise the MUD Board of Directors is going to bat for you as a customer in an effort to stop the State from fleecing you out of sales tax money. Right now MUD is required to collect sales tax the dollar amount of your bill. This gives the state a windfall when fuel costs rise unlike gas who’stax is charged by the gallon. Bottled water isn’t taxed because its exempt with food however when you drink a glass from the tap there is the State with it’s hand out. Water the farm no tax, water your yard and there is that hand again. Let’s not even talk about flushingyour toilet. They get you 2 times there with the water and then a sales tax on sewer fees. Talk about taking it in the…….sorry I forgot this was a family show.

Who’s betting this falls on deaf ears in Lincoln ?

Thats it for us this morning. More later if another dog goes on a rampage. Maybe the I team can do a story on what goes on in a dogs head when it snaps. Oh do we have some ideas for that.

Awwww shucks. Daunte Goynes is going to the big house after the Judge gave him 60 to life (minimum 35 before parole) for the gutless murder of Arron Lofton in front of his mother. Goynes attempted to apologise and claimed to have wrote a letter that other inmates tore up. Maybe they knew it was bullshit too.

Goynes’ mommy said he didn’t need to apologize because he made his peace with god. Yeah Ok.

Eric Lofton, who suffered a massive head injury last fall during a Northwest High football game was visableupset and had to be restrained from interrupting a press conference with the Goynes family in which they proclaimed his innocence and their intent to appeal. A shouting match later broke out between the two groups of supporters. The Goynes group claims he shot Lofton in the back in self defense. What was he going to do, run around the block and sneak up and kick his ass? See you when you turn 53 Daunte.

Also in court Kelsey Paterson will plead guilty to a lessor charge of crossing a state line to have sex with someone younger than 18. She is looking at 30 years however JMD thinks she will serve 6-7. The original charge of exploitation of a minor didn’t fit the crime according to her attorney.

She also faces State charges but her Attorney hopes that will be dropped once she is sentenced on the Federal Counts.

Police are asking for help in locating a bog who bit a boy on the face while he bent down to tie his shoe  near 67th and Pratt. The dog was described as Black with short hair and a long nose and the dogs owner called him Milo. The irresponsible animal owner left the scene with Milo in tow after the incident and the boys family just want to make sure the dogs shots are up to date so the poor kid wont have to undergo rabies shots. If you have information please call 444-7800 ext 1 and turn this idiot in.

Sarpy County is using Keno money to hire a consultant to look into the feasibility of building a Stadium for the Omaha Royals. Why they hired someone and just didn’t ask Muppet Mike is beyond me.

The Royals say they are looking at all options including the Sarpy facility, going somewhere else or playing downtown. However with all the hoopla about the possible move has anyone noticed the local media is actually giving the Royals games attention again? If only the would have got this up in arms over the Knights. Oh wait, Hockey isn’t a politically correct sport.

And speaking of Hockey, it was announced that Jake Ortmeyer is returning to his roots and has been named Assistant Coach of the U-18 Jr. Lancers.

And leave it to Nebraska, with gas at record high prices and people already stretched pocketbooks, the State stuck it’s hands in your wallet again and raised the gas tax another 3 cents a gallon. Now in Nebraska, between the State and Fed’s  you pay 45 cents a gallon in taxes. Officials say it is an adjustment to make sure the Department of roads gets all the money they were budgeted.

So in other words…if your doing what you can to save fuel your causing our taxes to rise. Now damn it , everyone get their SUV fired back up and start driving around town needlessly. But make sure you fuel up across the river.

Oh goodie another committee. Yep Muppet Mike announced that another committee is getting together to study the Pit Bull Issue and what can be done to thwart another attack. The group will include someone from the Mayors office, the City Council, Police and Humane Society Officials. We are not expecting much to come out of this other than a few dozen doughnuts disappearing.

Sanford Kaplan the former Professor and Lincoln Northeast soccer Coach now faces 5 sexual assault charges. Kaplan was the creepy old man that blindfolded, bound and suspended several young men while he video taped them trying to escape. He then used the movies to get his kicks while grading term papers or going over practice plans or whatever freaky crap this guy was into. Kaplan faces about 70 years in prison . Some of the actions date back to 1999 and involve boys in the 10-17 age range.

Police responding to a man threateningto jump off the roof of a building with his 4 year old son later discovered the mans wife dead in their home near 118th and Center. 29 year old Jonny “I guess I should have found a taller building” Rix let his son go then plunged 10 feet to his ultimate leg breaking. When police tried to locate the boys mother they found her body and 2 twin 1 year old boys who were unharmed.

Rixwas later charged with her murder but no motive was given and no word on what Rix was on when he climbed on top of the Blimpies. Were guessing he was toasted as well. The 3 children were placed in Foster Care.

As clean up around the city continues we are glad to report that the Moylan Ice Complex seems to have survived despite all the heavy damage in the area. Rumor on the street is that Pat Mechede threatened Aeolus with permanent 6 a.m. ice times for his kids team if anything happened to the rink. (Lets see who in the hockey crowd is smart enough to get that joke).

We are glad to see everyone pitching in to help neighbors and hats off to the hard working people of O.P.P.D. and all the other power districts who sent in help to get the power back on. There are still some trouble spots around town but for the most part we are up and running.

The storm also helped point out who didn’t pay attention in drivers ed class (non-working traffic lights become 4 way stops….1 car at a time not try and sneak through on the tailgate of the guy in front of you no matter how important you think you are…)

A drive by shooting in the Burger King parking lot at 30th and Ames around 1 a.m. Sunday left a man with minor injuries. James Plunket Jr. said a car pulled up and fired at the car he was sitting in. 30th and Ames is a popular gathering spot in the No-K much like Dodge Street was back in the 80’s and has been the scene of several shootings. Maybe the councilman in that district needs to push for the same actions that ended the problems along that stretch of the city.

12,053 gathered at the Qwest Center for the U.S. Olympic swim trials to see Michael Phelps set a World Record in the 400m Individual Medley, Katie Hoff shattered the world record in the women’s 400m Individual Medley and in both races the second place finisher also came in under the previous world record time.  Muppet Mike  also set a world record for treading water for 7 1/2 years.

Iowa’s State Wide Smoking Ban kicks in Tuesday. It pretty much bans smoking anywhere except hunkered down in a hidden room in your home or on the Casino gambling floor. The law requires any place of employment including company cars to be smoke free but does exempt private clubs without employee’s. Lets see how many new private clubs soon pop up. It also bans smoking at outside entertainment venues except for the State Fair and in all public building and grounds.

Carter Lake police are already warming up the tazers for enforcement of the law.

A memorial birthday party for a young lady who passed away from sickle cell anemia was interrupted by gunfire from a shootout down the street. 4 people were taken to the hospital after the were hit by stray bullet’s. 2 Aunts and 2 Cousins of the young lady were wounded. Witnesses reported a gun battle then a car speeding away.

If you are not outraged by all the gun play in the NO-K think of this. Imagine what the murder rate in this town would be if these dumabasses could actually hit what they were shooting at.

But that was only one of the multiple shootouts. Police responded to shot fired at 28th and Decatur but when they arrived they found no victim. A few minutes later 2 people checked themselves into Creighton Medical Center with gunshot wounds and a surveillance camera at 40th a Maple caught an El Camino drive by on tape. One person checked in at the University of Nebraska Medical Center from that showdown.

However the Supreme Court yesterday struck down a D.C. law that limited the rights of LAW ABIDING CITIZENS  the right to bear arms to protect themselves. The D.C. law banned all handguns and required shotguns and rifles to be stored disasembled. See how well that law worked in that Crime Ridden Cesspool.

For the third time in two day a Pitbull has snapped, this time biting a police officer near 40th and Vinton. The dog turned to attack again and the officer shot and killed the dog. The owner was cited for harboring a dangerous animal and other pet violations, let me guess no license or shots but we can afford to feed Sydney, but officers declined to ticket him for being stupid.

Now the Mayor, the Muppet and the Council are jumping on the Ban Wagon saying they are open to discussion about banning the dogs in Omaha. How about the dogs can stay and we ban the owners?

Word has leaked out the the Royals are in talks with Sarpy County and two communities outside of Omaha about building a new Minor League Stadium for them. Alan Stein, President of the Omaha Royals declined naming the other towns due to confidentiality agreements and the fact that it might lower the shock factor that one of the tenants of the new stadium we are building downtown might not be moving in. Wonder what Buffett’s take on this is? Time to step up to the plate, It would be a big mistake if the Royals got away.

Now Mongo needs his beauty sleep. Play nice today.

A leisurely stroll down the street with the kids in tow sitting in a wagon turned into a horrifying ordeal when a woman walking her biggest, baddest dog in the neighborhood came walking the other direction. The dog became agitated by the noise of the wagon or the fact that the 15 month old looked like a snack and pulled loose from it’s handler and attacked sending a woman and the 15 month old girl to the hospital in critical condition and two others hurt. Now two things struck me when I saw this story, one, If the dog pulled away from the person interviewed on TV HOLY SHIT that’s a strong dog but then pulling 350 around the block I guess I would be strong to and second , what is this fetish these morons have with owning a dog that can crush a child skull at any moment ? I know I’m going to open the Pitbull lovers mailbox with all the same bullshit about them not being vicious and blah blah blah blah blah well when you get bit by Fifi you maybe get a few stitches and loose a little blood….you get attacked by one of these specimens of death and your talking reconstructive surgery if your one of the lucky ones. Betty Bad Ass needs to be dipped in hamburger and put in a cage with King and see how she feels being the hunted, wait from the looks of things that thought may have crossed her mind already.

More details continue to come out about the family seeking revenge for their cousin killing himself by taking a woman into the woods and shooting her in the back.

It seems the dead cousin Tieres Abram was no stranger to danger either. He was one of the Heartlands Most Wanted on WOWT, wanted for a series of domestic abuse assaults. At the time he was dating the shooting victim and aspiring to be a famous rapper, just releasing his CD “Talk of the Streets”. I remember when I aspired to be a Rock Star until I listened to a tape I recorded and realized that well I sucked and better stay in school. Now I am not blaming the victim in any way for what happened to her but here is a tip on relationships. When more than 50% of the family members have mug shots, it’s best to look for a new boyfriend.

The entire story unfolds like a drama stirred up on My Space. From the sounds of it, some people circulated a bunch of rumors and came to the chronic biased conclusion that this girl had something to do with Tieres suicide. I’m thinking he just listened to his CD like I did and then took another career path.

The State Liquor Commission took a different path and caved in to the Joslyn Castle Neighborhood Association Vice President and lead of the group Alcohol Impact Control. The Commission denied licenses for three former Kum and Go’s on a vote of 1-1. The Commission is missing the 3rd and deciding member so they vote anyway and a tie goes to the biggest bitcher I guess. I am pretty sure an appeal or legal action is in the works.

Police have made an arrest in one of last years homicides. 17 year old Robert Carodine was charged with Second Degree Murder of 31 year old Antonio Simonds outside the Drop Lounge. Simonds was found shot to death in the parking lot when police responded to a fight at the tavern last summer. Police wont say what led them to Carodine (somebody snitched) but what was a 17 year old doing at the bar anyway? Oh well, I just want a “Get Dropped at the Drop” t shirt.

Bugs asked me to fill in or a few days while he takes a business trip though  I’m sure the only business involves 18 to 36 holes a day from the looks of the luggage when we dropped him at the airport.

Austin “Munchkin” Fry was in front of the Judge yesterday on accessory to murder charges stemming from his actions in the Julius Robinson murder.  The wanna be tough guy apparently drove the car that was used and hid the murder weapon for Daniel Miller. After the Judge stopped laughing at his lawyer’s request to post bail at $2000.00, he set the amount at $500,000. His attorney said he was living with his mom and had a job waiting. He has a job waiting alright, stamping license plates in the pen. If mom is smart she won’t hock the house to post bail as Fry was already out on bail on a previous weapons charge when his Juvenile Parole Officer located a .38 revolver with the serial number removed hidden in his bedroom. Fry could get 20 years for his actions. Maybe by then his face will clear up.

What is it with Lincoln and people with bizarre weapons. Now a man has been charged with killing a Pit Bull with a Machete. The man claimed the dog began to attack and he used the closest thing. I’m sure everyone has a machete laying around close by. Police say it appears as if the wounds to the dog were inflicted while the dog was laying down.

Earlier in the evening police were called to the house after the man and his girlfriend were involved in a dispute with another woman who lived in the same location (que the Bomp Chicka Boom Bomp Music). The dog belonged to the other woman and the man claimed she left it behind hoping it would attack him. He must be quite the charmer if he suspected that. Needless to say the dog died from it’s wounds and this guy wont be out exploring the bush for a little while.

Police are looking for a suspect in the shooting and attempted murder of Sarah Schramm. Schramm was shot several times in the back and left for dead. She reported to police that she was visiting the grave of her late boyfriend Tieres Abram, an aspiring “rapper” who hung himself the day after his CD was released ( Must have been a good one), when three people approached her and questioned her about his death. They reportedly took her car keys and forced her into an SUV saying they were going to take her to Tieres mothers house. When the reached a wooded area Tieres cousin Jamaal Abram stepped out of the trees holding a pistol and also began to ask if she had anything to do with Tieres death then shot her in the back (Jamaal sounds about as smart as Munchkin, maybe they will be cell mates.) and left her for dead. Police issued and arrest warrant for Jamaal, charging him with attempted murder.

The City Council voted to approve an additional $924,000 for work on the Omaha side of the Bridge to Nowhere. They money will be used to pay for surveying needed to install a water fountain and art display (Please don’t let it be another set of Sounding Stones). Now thinking that I missed out on becoming a surveyor and making some real coin I am forced to come to the realization that were spending a ton of money to build a fancy shower for the River Rats. Well at least they will have some culture to look at while they are bathing.

That’s it for me today. I will be back with a report after our Mole calls in Bugs’ golf card.

A Wheelchair bound Lincoln man was arrested after an argument with a neighbor accelerated into him pulling a crossbow pistol and getting a shot off. 49 year old Carlos Lupercio was arrested on making terroristic threats, using a weapon to commit a felony, discharge of a weapon inside the city, failure to comply and resisting arrest. ( Carter Lake Police would have tazered him long before he had time to resist). Apparently Carols and a 25 year old man were arguing over the breed of a dog and if it was a pit bull or a lab or a shitzu. Carlos left but later rolled back up and attempted to pop an arrow in the 25 year old man. It missed and struck a tree. When police arrived Carlos was still holding the crossbow and refused to cooperate.

The mother who’s wheelchair bound daughter was burned in a mid-town fire had apparently barricaded the woman in her room. One door was tied shut with a bed sheet and the other had no inside door knob. Cherie Harbour was charged with abuse of a vulnerable adult. He daughter Tawnisha suffered burns over 30 percent of her body.

Bail was denied for Daniel C. Miller in the Millard gangland murder case. Police have also arrested the get away driver, Austin “Munchies” Fry and charged him as an accessory. Fry was just released on bail the day before after he was charged for possession of a defaced firearm. Fry is said to also be a member of the Omaha Mafia Bloods gang and that an ongoing feud between them and Julius Robinson lead to the shooting. Robinson reportedly said some things about the gang on the Internet (Should we worry about ASDF coming to get us? He is a little consumed about tagging and it’s artistic benefits.) and that escalated into the shooting.

And just to make asdf’s day, Police are investigating the 5th shooting in 6 days after a 24 year old woman  was shot multiple times in a wooded area near 52nd and Bauman Ave. Police are looking for a Red Denali or Escalade seen leaving the area. The woman managed to get to an area where some kids were playing basketball and seek help.  She reportedly is in critical condition with gunshot wounds to the back and some people reported hearing as many as seven shots. No words of wisdom from our former State Senator in that district but reports say he is to busy to comment while adding to his “Worlds Largest Ball of Crime Scene Tape” collection again.

Truly a tragic day in the entertainment industry as 71 year old George Carlin passed away from heart failure. Everyone has a favorite routine from this comic genius. From the seven words you can’t say one TV to the Hippy Dippy Weather man (Tonight’s forecast…..dark. Continued dark followed by some widely scattered light in the morning.)  We will miss you George.

Locally, the cease fire has ended again in the NO-K Coral as Omaha’s latest shooting victim was gunned down near 22nd and Larimore early Sunday morning. 20 year old Nostaw Watson was pronounced dead at Creighton Medical Center. No details have been released. We are sure the someone will be releasing a statement about somebody turning their life around.

The mother of a wheelchair bond woman has been cited for abuse of a vulnerable person after her daughter was injured in a fire. 40 year old Cherie Harbour is accused of leaving 23 year old Tawnisha Harbour home alone and unable to escape on her own after a fire broke out in their 65th and Maple area house. Cherie Harbour is being held on a $25,000 bond. Tawnisha suffered burns to her feet, legs, face and neck.

And the CWS moves to the National Championship series best of 3 as the Bulldogs take on the Bulldogs starting this evening. Georgia and Fresno State square off tonight after Fresno sent NorthCarolina back home with a 6-1 win.
