Again gunshots have rung out mid-day in the No-K Coral. Yesterday around noon a 23 year old man was gunned down after he was chased by unknown assailants and had his SUV fired upon. The man jumped from his vehicle where witnesses said a man was hanging out of the window of a maroon Ford firing a “rapid fire” weapon while the man attempted to run away. Once hit one of the suspects got out of the Ford and according to witnesses, shot him in the back of the head at close range.
When help arrived the man was still breathing but unresponsive. He is listed in critical condition.
Police are said to have located at least 13 shell casings in the area of the assault.
This is the latest in a rash of gun violence raging in the district and summer hasn’t even begun yet. Community leaders gathered to discuss ideas of how to get ahold of the senseless acts. The only way this is going to stop is when residents stop the “No snitching” mentality and start fingering these thugs. Putting a sign in your yard is one thing, following through is another.
Family members of the victim said he was the father of 3 and was not a gang member. Apparently someone had a beef with him, but with the mentality of some of these gang bangers it could be something as little as grabbing the last bag of chips off the rack at the Cum and Go before Snoop Dog Wanna be could shuffle over to get to them.
Three masked gunmen held up the US Bank inside the No Frills at 50th a G yesterday morning. The trio escaped with an undetermined amount of cash in a white Hyundai.
The Lancers fell to the Fargo Force last night 4-3 and behind in the series 2 games to 1. They must win tonight to force a game 5 here in Omaha on Saturday.
C.J. Ludwig was not granted an appeal to his suspension stemming from the attempt to injure call so he will be out for the season unless Omaha can stop Fargo twice and get to the Clark Cup Finals.
Sorry about the short post. Meetings abound…..
